All Foretract’s equipment is fitted with Auto feed with current sensing, which is essential for fast accurate cutting.
In the case of broken studs, some can be removed using our square drive method which involves cutting a square hole in the stud of a suitable size relative to the stud size, typically 1/8" up to 2" AF this allows the stud to be unscrewed from its hole using a matching extraction tool driven out using a hand, air or hydraulic wrench depending on how tight the stud is.
Studs that are clearly seized due to heat over a long period and/or corrosion are very unlikely to unscrew from their holes without serious damage to the internal hole. Foretract can collapse seized studs without damaging the thread by using a precision electrode made in house to suit the thread profile.

About Spark Erosion
Spark Erosion, sometimes known as EDM (Electrical discharge machining)or Metal Disintegration is a process whereby a desired shape is machined using electrical discharges (sparks).Material is removed from the work piece by a series of rapidly recurring current discharges between the electrode, which is held in the tool holder on the cutting head, and the broken/siezed stud. Spark Eroding can be used on all types of steel including very hard hi alloy content material.(This allows us to cut through broken “Easy Outs”/”Stud Extractors” with ease)
