Dart 3 Cylinder Head Stud Removal

Foretract Engineering received a call on a Saturday afternoon from the Chief Engineer of Dart 3, a roro ship bound for the River Thames. Its arrival time was 0830hrs on the Monday morning. A cylinder head stud had snapped in the main engine and required removal during the ship's cargo turnaround period.

Foretract Engineering staff joined the ship on its arrival and removed the stud using portable metal disintegration equipment, in conjunction with in-stock mounting plates and electrodes to suit the ships engine. The job was completed to a high standard by midday, in plenty of time to avoid disruption to cargo loading and Dart 3’s departure.
