This regular multi million dollar maintenance turnaround on a frame 6 and 7 turbine was attended by Foretract Engineering Ltd. The brief was to remove quickly and safely any cover flange studs, that may break due to seizure of the threads while opening up the turbines (This is a critical path task) The metal disintegration equipment worked round the clock on the frame 7 turbine in order to keep the rebuild to its very tight schedule. During the period on site damaged studs ranging from 5/8” to 1 ¾” were removed with no damage caused to the casing threads.
