Machining onboard Type 23 LIFEX – Foretract play major part
Foretract is thrilled to highlight the pivotal role we have played in refitting Type 23 Frigates at Devonport Dockyard over the years. We collaborated closely with the Babcock Marine sector and the MBDA projects teams. Together, we successfully completed all the machining elements necessary for installing the advanced Sea Ceptor missile system on the last six Type 23 Life Extensions (LIFEX). This significant project underscores our commitment to enhancing naval capabilities. We ensure that these vessels remain at the forefront of maritime defense.
Our extensive experience in machining work for the Sea Ceptor system has been invaluable. It has allowed us to build a highly skilled team. This team is proficient in this specialised area. Each project has provided us with valuable insights and expertise, enabling us to refine our processes and deliver exceptional results. We celebrated the successful upgrade of HMS Sutherland, which recently returned to the waters as the last ship to benefit from this enhancement. Read more about this achievement from the MOD here.
The upgrade not only bolsters the operational capabilities of the Type 23 Frigates but also exemplifies the strong partnership between Foretract, Babcock, and MBDA. Together, we are ensuring that these vessels remain robust and ready for modern naval challenges.
