In-Situ Machining

Foretract Engineering’s In-situ machining service is aimed primarily at the marine customer.

In this role we have carried out refit machining operations during major drydockings of both Royal Navy surface ships and submarines, This type of work usually involves the design and production of special mounting equipment on which to mount the appropriate single point rotary cutting or milling machines.

The type of machining operations encountered are –

Facing of deck seatings for crane, radar, and gun bases etc

Engine and alternator bedplates

Drilling and tapping

Facing of flanges for ballast systems and hull penetrations (sea tubes)
